Nik Laker – Such Stuff EP

Diesen Worten des Export Labels stimme ich zu. Leider gibt es die EP, wie auch schon das Erstlingswerk von Nik Laker, nur als digitalen Download. Schade – die Musik würde sich gänzlich herrvorragend auf Vinyl machen.
Trip-Hop.net Compilation 2010 (Freedownload)
Die französische Website Trip-Hop.net hat ihre Lieblingslieder aus 2010 zusammengestellt und bietet diese Compilation nun als Freedownload an. Neben DJ Scientist, Ceschi und The Q4 ist auf der Compilation noch jede Menge weiterer doper HipHop und Beats zu finden ist. Der Opener “Behind the wall” von Degiheugi featuring Kalyanka & Ghostown ist ein gediegener, gesungener Track auf langsamer soulig-warmer Beatbasis. Danach geht’s entspannt und athmosphärisch mit L’Oniraunote weiter. Crookram haut dann wieder eher auf die Drums und liefert mit “A man named Ivan” einen gezupften instrumental Kopfnicker ab während im darauf folgenden vierten Lied Berry Weight ein warmes, ruhiges Turntablism Lied mit schönem Gesang zum Besten gibt.
Und das waren erst die ersten vier Lieder. Nummer fünf und sechs stammen von Ceschi und DJ Scientist – zu denen ich wohl hier eher weniger sagen muss…

Der Dougegen Adventskalender 2010 – #2
Gediegen, melancholisch, experimentell und melodiös geht es heute in unserem Adventskalender zu.
David O’Brien, besser bekannt als Rumbus Merrylegs, nimmt den Hörer auf seinem Album “she’s gone from us” mit auf eine Reise. Eine sehr musikalische, teilweise bedrückende Reise. Düstere Drums, elektronische Samples und sphärische Soundscapes. Bis auf “Cotton Memory Dancing“, welches die Sängerin Niamh De Barra featured, und ein paar monsterähnlichen Sprachsamples, ist das Album des Iren instrumental. Was so gediegen anfängt verwandelt sich zwischendurch in heftiges, (fast) Breakcore angehauchtes und glitchiges Schlagzeug gewirr mit verträumten Melodien. Ambient at it’s best…
Die Zip-Datei enthält neben den 14 Tracks auch einen Flashlooper für alle ScratchDJs – nicht verwunderlich wenn man weiß, dass Rumbus Merrylegs zu den Community Skratch Leuten gehört.
Das Album wird präsentiert von Nozl Recordings.

Der Folge-Mix von Kpers FoF-Mix kommt von Asura. Einem Produzent aus Los Angeles.
Eine ordentliche Portion Weltmusik, ein paar Beats und Ambient Kram… guter Mix.
Asura selbst sagt:

Melorman – Expressing Thoughts

Dem habe ich eigentlich nur noch hinzuzufügen das man diese Musik auch sehr gut an einem sonnigen, dennoch kalten, Freitagmorgen um 8:32 Uhr hören kann. Andere Tage, Uhrzeiten und Wetterlagen sind auf eigene Gefahr zu genießen…
Die Beschreibung von Archaic Horizon Records ist so treffend das ich es gar nicht selbst versuchen will:
“The EP is a tranquil expression of resonant melodies and chilled beats. Emphasizing an expansive aural environment, Melorman’s synths orbit around a stereofield enriched with granular ambience and soft, fragmented percussion.”
