Vinyl Record Day 2010
Ohman, da schreibe ich vorletztes Jahr noch so tolles Zeug für den offiziellen internationalen Vinyl Record Day, und dann schaffe ich es dieses Jahr nicht mal einen klitzekleinen Beitrag zu machen… peinlich.
Naja, irgendwie ist für mich jeden Tag Schallplatten-verehrungs-Tag.
Also: Huldigt Thomas Alva Edison! Gestern war Vinyl Record Day…

Huldigt Thomas Alva Edison!
Heute ist Vinyl Record Day …
1877 ist für mich sozusagen das Jahr Null. Thomas Edison erfindet den Phonograph.
Im Februar 2002 wird der 12. August zum offiziellen “Vinyl Record Day” erklärt, zumindest in San Luis Obispo County. Gefeiert wurde am ersten Samstag nach dem 12ten.
“The day started with Big Band Swing Music with the music changing every forty-five minutes. Following were segments on Elvis, the Beatles, a Sock Hop, R&B, Surf, Country, Disco, Jazz and Blues, all played on vinyl.”
Ausserdem gab es noch andere Angebote wie zB. eine Hüpfburg für Kinder, ein Wissens-Quiz für die Erwachsenen, ein Platten Flohmarkt und ein “Spin Battle” (wenn mir jemand sagen kann was ein “Spin Battle” ist wäre ich sehr dankebar; vielleicht eine Art Wetttanzen!?).
Ich jedenfalls werde heute ins Bum!Chak-Studio fahren, mir einen Altar dieser Art aufbauen und davor mehrere Male auf die Knie fallen und dabei rufen “Thomas Edison! Thomas Edison! Praise you Alva! PRAISE THE VINYL” … Gegebenenfalls singe ich danach auch nochmal “mary had a little lamb” welches Edisons erste Aufnahme war.
Unteranderem SO hat man damals übrigens aufgenommen. (man beachte den rieseigen Trichter der den Schall auffängt)
